Kid Rooms Continue

Guys, you haven't seen some cute updates to the kids rooms in a while.

In January, Lena made this model of the Solar System.  Also, her hibernating/dead (we're not yet sure) wooly bear caterpillar is living in the butterfly net house.

The planets glow in the dark!

She is really loving the IKEA dishes she got for Christmas.  You can see the overhead projector on the shelf, too.

The boys' rooms have super great matching quilts which are this day loaded under other blankets.  But they LOVE their shelves for display.  PJ is itching for a lamp like Jack has.  I have it in the closet, but I think not yet.

I love their Pinterest inspired string art initials behind each bed.

I did it on two panels of wood rather than on the wall.

I hung some photos of the boys and Paul along with the bow that Jack & Paul made at LWBC's father son weekend.  Also, PJ's alphabet poster from Christmas 2011.

Come & see for yourself!

Christmas, out

The Starbucks Christmas coffee is gone.  Where goes the coffee, there goes the season, too.  Boo!

What do you want on your tombstone?

You can see this little table I pull out for PJ while we're doing school work.  He has his own "desk" and works right by us (but not on top of us!).  This day he was playing with a felt pizza making kit.  Lena and I spent a bit of time last summer making some fun baggies of felt fun like this.  PJ's desk is a new addition to our school room since Christmas and it is working really well.

Also working well...I packed away 5 different toy backpacks and bins.  We pull one out each day for PJ to play with while I read to the kids.  That way he is right by us and included, but not interrupting.  So far...working great!

We have been over fevers for 48 hours from Influenza A and I'm so grateful for restored health.  We had a family movie night tonight and it was snuggly and fun.  Now Jack is curled up with a new Rick Riordan book and I'm catching up on down time where I sit on the couch and try to stay awake until a decent hour to go to bed!

Thanks for all the prayers and support sent our way during illness!

wrap it up

It was a season! Now we're wrapping it up. I think it will go down in the books as one to remember.

The Christmas of 2012 will be remembered for all of the same reasons it will blend in with other holidays.  The food, the time with family, the fun activities.

We actually had all of our families together at two seperate events.  It was chaos and awesome!

I can only pray 2013 brings more of the same!

Happy Thanksgiving....from our turkeys to yours!

I'm thankful for the preservation of summer and for those who graciously shared their bounty.  We'll be enjoying some tasty smoothies and shakes during these colder days!!

For now, I continue to take in the last of the tomatoes and potatoes.  Say that three times fast.

I made a really simple pasta sauce tonight.  Fried onion and garlic in olive oil.  Added boiled down fresh tomato juice, salt and garlic.  I would have eaten it as such, but the family needs sugar to to tone down the tart.

I'm pretty sure I'm one of those gardeners who actually pays $64 for each tomato brought in from the home garden.  By the time you add up all the labor and costs, you could more easily buy it at Walmart (or around here, the Amish auction).  But for me?  The time spent outside is priceless!  Take that Walmart!

You know it's September when...

you're processing tomatoes in your sleep!

But, the season is nearly done!

true love

The kids came home the other day shouting "Mom, Mom, we've got a suprise for you."  I pulled off my apron and came running.  I knew where they had been....they'd been to the dump with their Dad.

Out here, we don't pay to have our garbage taken away...NO!  We get a hitch on our vehicle, then wait for a friend to bless us with a trailer.  Finally, we outfit that trailer to haul our garbage for FREE (well, after all the other hauling accessories are accumlated).

I zoomed down the stairs and followed the kids around the corner outside.

They'd found me a matching duck!!!  The one on the left is an old one I've had for a while.  It used to be my Mom's.  The guy on the right is the newest member of the family.  They both need a bit of superglue at the bottom, which strangely, helps him to fit in right away!

Anyway, this is one cute animal which the dog won't eat or shake (I think?).   It's funny you can see Scoutie stalking something in the distance!

Next time you're heading this way, stop by and say hello to Juliet & her Romeo!

M.I.A.

As most blog breaks go, I didn't intend the current slump I've had to be so long.  Famous last thoughts with most things, I'm sure!

We've been prepping for vacation, vacationing and then recovering from vacation!  It was wonderful -- all of it.  And now I'm hoping to get into my pictures in the next few days to really process through all the great memories.

We'll be in touch!

oh bla dee

A week goes by!  And life goes on.  I feel like there have been a lot of posts like this lately.  But, indeed, we do life pretty fully!

Plugging away is the mantra here.  Soon we begin to celebrate THE birthday (ha ha, mine!), trips south and then trips more south (souther??).
